B.G.

She was a pianist and bandleader in a career that stretched over 60 years. Beegie Adair was a one-woman jazz machine - forming her own trio (which sold 2 million albums), performing on TV, working with other great jazz artists such as Chet Baker and Peggy Lee, and teaching jazz music at university. Adair's pleasing piano music was loved by many, including Johnny Cash who had her perform on his TV show from 1969 to 1971.(Beegie lived in Nashville, a place known for country music, but she would remark that jazz "was catching on here"). Her real name was Bobbe Long, but her father called her "B.G." for short, hence the nickname "Beegie". Adair died in January of 2022 at age 84. Many of her songs can be heard right here on Easy Jazz FM Radio.
